Verify & troubleshoot
Check what you downloaded, get past the warnings safely, and find out what is wrong when something is.
Checked on Desktop 0.1.15CLI 0.1.0Android 0.1.38
A newer version is out (Desktop 0.1.25, CLI 0.5.2, Android 0.1.40): some details may differ.
Verify a download
Section titled “Verify a download”A checksum tells you the file is the one that was published; the provenance attestation tells you it was built by the TALOS repository’s own workflow. A checksum is not a publisher signature.
Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 .\TALOS-Setup-<version>.exegh attestation verify .\TALOS-Setup-<version>.exe --repo Ninozzz95/talossha256sum TALOS-<version>.apkgh attestation verify TALOS-<version>.apk --repo Ninozzz95/talosThe published SHA-256 of every file is on the Download page and in each release.
“Windows protected your PC”
Section titled ““Windows protected your PC””The Desktop installer is not code-signed. After checking its SHA-256, choose More info, check the file name, then Run anyway. If the option is missing because of a device policy, ask its administrator. Do not turn off SmartScreen or Defender.
The graphics card
Section titled “The graphics card”- If the graphics card is missing or lost while a model loads, TALOS Desktop restarts the model once on the CPU and the Model Lab says so, with Retry on the graphics card.
- If the card runs out of memory, the app does not switch by itself: choose Processor in the Local engine menu. That restarts the service and stays until you change it.
- The Desktop log opens from the app’s menu.
The CLI says something is missing
Section titled “The CLI says something is missing”talos doctortalos diagnostic bundle --out talos-diagnostic.ziptalos doctor says what is missing. The diagnostic bundle is a redacted report for a bug: it contains no prompt and no
file content. talos --help lists every command, /help does the same inside the interactive screen.
Android behaves differently on your phone
Section titled “Android behaves differently on your phone”Android makers differ in Accessibility, background execution, lock-screen behavior and battery management. TALOS checks what the phone allows at runtime instead of assuming, and treats unsupported, denied, failed and verified success as different states. If an action does not happen, check the permission it needs in Install TALOS for Android.
Report a problem
Section titled “Report a problem”- Bugs and questions: open an issue in the TALOS repository on GitHub. For the CLI, attach the diagnostic bundle.
- Vulnerabilities: use the repository’s private security reporting, not a public issue.
