Run a task without the screen
Give TALOS one task from the shell or a script, get text or JSON back, and know what it may do on its own.
Checked on CLI 0.3.3
A newer version is out (CLI 0.5.2): some details may differ.
For a single task, TALOS can run without the interactive screen: it works, prints the result, and ends.
One task
Section titled “One task”talos -p "inspect this repository and explain the failing tests"When the standard input is not a terminal and no prompt is given, TALOS runs without the screen and reads the prompt from the standard input:
cat task.md | talos --jsonMachine-readable output
Section titled “Machine-readable output”talos -p "summarize the changes" --json # one JSON result at the endtalos -p "summarize the changes" --output-format stream-json # one JSON event per line, as they happen--protocol v2 selects the newer format of events and results; it needs --json or stream-json. The exit code
says how the run ended: see Exit codes.
Continue a session
Section titled “Continue a session”talos --resume last -p "now fix the first one"talos --fork <id> -p "try another way"What it may do on its own
Section titled “What it may do on its own”A headless run has no one to ask: an action that would ask is denied, and the run says so. To let it do more,
write the rules it needs in a settings file, or choose a mode for the run with --permission-mode — see
Allow, ask or deny a tool.
A run stops after 180 seconds unless --timeout <seconds> says otherwise. --model <provider:model> and
--project <path> choose the model and the folder for this run only. Every option is on
Global options.
