Schedule a task

Write a task with its checklist, then let it repeat on its own — once, every day, on chosen days or at an interval — and hear back only when something changed.

Checked on Android 0.1.38

A newer version is out (Android 0.1.40): some details may differ.

Tasks are your to-dos, kept on the phone and usable offline. A task can also repeat on its own: at the time you pick, TALOS runs its instruction and sends you the result — even with the app closed.

  1. Open Tasks from the menu and tap New task.
  2. Give it a title and, if you like, a description. A line written as - [ ] step becomes a check you can tick inside the task.
  3. Set its priority — low, normal or high — and save it.

A task is To do, In progress or Done; tap its status to move it along. TALOS can add, edit and complete tasks too, through its tools, under your powers.

  1. Open the task and tap Edit, then turn on Let it repeat on its own.
  2. Under What it should do, write the instruction — for example, “summarize today’s AI news”. A repeating task must say what to do.
  3. Choose How often:
    • Once, on a date and at a time;
    • Every day, at a time;
    • On chosen days, at a time;
    • At intervals, every so many minutes — at least 15: Android will not wake an app more often than that.
  4. Turn on Only tell me if something changed to stay quiet when a run gives the same result as the last one. It still runs.
  5. Save. The task shows its next run; a schedule that would never run says so.

A scheduled task appears under Scheduled. Pause stops it until you Resume it.

Scheduled runs happen while you are away, so TALOS must be allowed to work in the background: see Keep long work running. What a run may do follows your powers, like any other request.
