Check your setup with Doctor
Read the report of what is ready and what is not on this computer, worst first, and what each check does not prove.
Checked on Desktop 0.1.19
A newer version is out (Desktop 0.1.25): some details may differ.
Doctor is the report of the local setup: a list of checks, each with its severity — failure, warning, note, OK — ordered from the worst. Open Doctor — in the sidebar, or from Settings → Account, Doctor and backup — and read from the top. Checks run only when you ask.
What it checks
Section titled “What it checks”- access to a provider;
- the environment commands run in;
- version control;
- the browsing tool;
- the agent’s service;
- the catalog of predefined tasks;
- the project folders allowed;
- the configuration of web search;
- providers and the keyring;
- experimental features that are on;
- the restore of sessions, with which ones were dropped and why.
What it does not prove
Section titled “What it does not prove”Doctor is a diagnosis, not support: it says whether something is configured, not whether it would work. Each check says so in its own words — a key is configured but its validity with the provider is not checked; the browsing tool is available but no page is opened; search is configured but no search is run. A check missing from the answer is not taken as good: it reads not observed.
Doctor repairs nothing by itself. When an operation of the local API fails, its error carries a Doctor reference that opens the recorded detail (see Health and diagnostics).
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”- No environment available (failure) — commands cannot run, and most work cannot start.
- Restore of sessions in red — one or more sessions could not be read again. The list names which, and why.
- Everything “not observed” — the diagnosis did not arrive whole: try again.
