Check what works on this phone
Run Doctor’s checks, read what a chat has seen, test a local model before relying on it, and copy a report that carries no keys, messages or documents.
Checked on Android 0.1.38
A newer version is out (Android 0.1.40): some details may differ.
Android differs from phone to phone, and so does what TALOS can do on each. Doctor, in the menu, answers the question honestly: every row is a real check, run on this phone, offline.
Run the checks
Section titled “Run the checks”Open Doctor. It scans the phone and sums up: how many checks passed, and how many problems it found. Open the checks to see each one — the platform, the encrypted local storage, the database lock, the speech recognizer, biometric unlock, the personal voice engine, the local engine, and whether Code can see and read its workspace. Run diagnostics runs them again.
The checks are grouped as Status, Data and Advanced. Recent issues lists what went wrong lately.
What this chat has seen
Section titled “What this chat has seen”For the current chat, Doctor shows what the permission gate is weighing: whether your private data was already read, whether outside content entered, how far an approved plan reaches, and which tools could send something out.
Test a local model
Section titled “Test a local model”Before relying on a model that runs on the phone, three checks tell you how it behaves here:
- Which engines actually load — tries the engine libraries shipped with the app, one by one, and says which ones load on this phone. It does not measure speed and does not drain the battery.
- Local model parity — runs real checks with no side effect: plain text, no false tool call, a tool call, the result returned, the protocol kept hidden, and Stop. A model is compatible when it passes them. It also says whether the model’s tool requests can be held in check, and whether its reasoning can be turned off.
- Measure this model’s threads — with a local model open, tries several configurations with a real prompt and remembers the best one for this model on this phone.
Report a problem
Section titled “Report a problem”- Turn on Show technical detail under Advanced. Errors then carry their internal code, and each send records how long it took — rounds, first word, tool calls, and time spent waiting for you. Nothing is measured while it is off.
- Reproduce the problem.
- Tap Copy diagnostics.
The report carries timings, check results, provider and model names and the build. It is never given your keys, messages or documents — and anything that looks like a key in the device log is removed on the way out. Clear timings empties them when you are done.
