Find a setting
The nine sections of TALOS Desktop's settings, the search across them, and moving your preferences to another computer.
Checked on Desktop 0.1.19
A newer version is out (Desktop 0.1.25): some details may differ.
Open the settings from the sidebar, or with Mod ,. A search at the top goes through every section: search by word,
accents or not. Every setting, with its values and what it changes, is listed on
Settings in the reference.
The sections
Section titled “The sections”Behavior — how the app behaves with you:
- Appearance and motion — theme, colors, how much animation, the language of the menus.
- Chat and composer — how you read and write. Model and permissions belong to each session.
- Agent tools and permissions — what the agent may do, and the source of web search.
- Memory and context — how the model’s window is shared, and the limits available.
- Security and privacy — local data, and moving your preferences.
Infrastructure — what it works with:
- Model laboratory — providers and their keys, models on this computer, downloads; see Connect a provider and Run a model on your computer.
- Costs and usage — tokens by day and by model; see Models and providers.
- Files and workspace — the active folder and session.
- Account, Doctor and backup — the inventory of agents, hooks, skills, plugins and MCP servers, and Doctor.
Move your preferences
Section titled “Move your preferences”Settings stay on this computer: nothing is synced and nothing is sent. To take them elsewhere, open Security and privacy, export them to a file, and import it on the other computer; you can also restore the initial values. These actions move preferences, not conversations.
If a setting has no effect
Section titled “If a setting has no effect”Some settings apply from the next session. Open a new one to check.
