One task per page — from the first setup to a backup you can restore — checked against TALOS for Android 0.1.38.
Checked on Android 0.1.38
A newer version is out (Android 0.1.40): some details may differ.
Each guide does one thing, in the order you would do it. To understand how the parts fit together first, start with How TALOS for Android works.
- Set up TALOS the first time The first-run setup, step by step — language, your name, the PIN, a model, what TALOS may do on its own, and long work in the background.
- Connect a cloud model Save a provider key — or sign in with OpenRouter, or point TALOS at your Ollama server — test a model, and make it the one that answers.
- Run a model on the phone Find a model this phone can hold, check its variants, download it, and let TALOS find the fastest engine — then answer with no network at all.
- Choose what TALOS may do Set the three powers, switch single tools on and off, decide how long an approval lasts, and take back every “always”.
- Call TALOS from anywhere Make TALOS the phone’s assistant, choose the gesture or keys that open it, turn on “hey TALOS”, and use the bar over any app.
- Connect TALOS to the phone Pair the bridge once through wireless debugging, reconnect after a restart, and understand what it can reach.
- Turn on web search Choose the service that answers TALOS’s searches, give it a key or an address, and allow the query to leave the phone.
- Use the Library in chats Bring files in, attach them to a message, decide how much of the Library a chat may read — for every chat, one chat, or the next message.
- Review what TALOS remembers Approve a memory in the chat, add one by hand, give it a kind and a scope, pause it, correct it or delete it.
- Run a deep research Ask one question, review the plan before anything is spent, choose the writer and the checker, follow the run, and read a report whose every claim is checked.
- Schedule a task Write a task with its checklist, then let it repeat on its own — once, every day, on chosen days or at an interval — and hear back only when something changed.
- Dictate, listen, and use your own voice Speak instead of typing, have replies read aloud, and train a personal voice from twelve phrases — all on the phone.
- Start a Code session Connect the bridge, open a coding session that runs on the phone, choose its model, and follow its commands, approvals and changes.
- Back up and restore Export everything into one file encrypted with a passphrase, keep it where you choose, and bring it back — merging, replacing or skipping what is already there.
- Lock TALOS with a PIN Turn on the app lock, whose PIN encrypts your chats and documents; unlock with biometrics; keep TALOS out of screenshots and the app switcher.
- Keep long work running Let TALOS work with the screen off, so researches, model downloads and scheduled tasks reach the end — and the extra steps some phones ask for.
- Check what works on this phone Run Doctor’s checks, read what a chat has seen, test a local model before relying on it, and copy a report that carries no keys, messages or documents.
