Global options

The options of talos itself, given before a subcommand or with a prompt.

These options go before a subcommand (talos --project ../api session list) or with a prompt (talos -p "…" --json).

-p, --print <prompt>
Run one prompt without the interactive screen (headless) and print the answer.
--json
Print one JSON result at the end instead of text. Same as --output-format json.
--output-format <format>
text (default), json (one result at the end) or stream-json (one JSON event per line, as they happen). Valuestextjsonstream-json
--protocol <version>
The version of the headless event and result format, v1 (default) or v2. v2 needs --json or --output-format stream-json, and only applies to headless runs. Valuesv1v2
--project <path>
The project folder. Default: the current folder.
--model <provider:model>
The model for this run, e.g. openai:gpt-5-mini. Overrides the configured one.
--permission-mode <mode>
How actions are approved for this run. See Permissions. ValuesdefaultacceptEditsplanautodontAskbypassPermissions
--resume <id|last>
Continue a session; last is the most recent.
--fork <id>
Start a new session from a copy of a session.
-v, --verbose
Show more detail when something fails, including the trace id.
--no-color
Plain text, without colors.
--timeout <seconds>
Stop a headless run after this many seconds (a positive integer). Default 180.
--version
Print the version and exit.
-h, --help
Print the usage and exit.
  • --resume and --fork are mutually exclusive.
