Environment variables
The environment variables TALOS CLI reads, and what each one changes.

Variables
Section titled “Variables”TALOS_CREDENTIAL_STORE- Where keys are kept for this process:

--no-colordoes. VISUAL- The editor used to compose a long prompt (checked before
EDITOR). EDITOR- The editor used to compose a long prompt, when
VISUALis not set. APPDATA- Windows: the settings folder is
%APPDATA%\TALOS-CLI. LOCALAPPDATA- Windows: data, sessions and logs are under
%LOCALAPPDATA%\TALOS-CLI. XDG_CONFIG_HOME- macOS and Linux: if set, the settings folder; otherwise
~/.config/talos-cli. XDG_STATE_HOME- macOS and Linux: if set, the data folder; otherwise
~/.local/state/talos-cli. XDG_CACHE_HOME- macOS and Linux: if set, the cache folder; otherwise
~/.cache/talos-cli.
Provider keys
Section titled “Provider keys”Each provider can take its key from the variables listed on Providers. A key found in the environment is not used until you approve it — talos provider env-key <provider> --use, or when the interactive screen asks. One-shot commands that run a model (talos research start, talos automation run) use it and say where the key came from.
Read to adapt to the terminal
Section titled “Read to adapt to the terminal”TALOS reads these only to recognize the terminal (colors, notifications, remote sessions):
