Resume, fork and share a session

Come back to a session, try another way from a copy, name and find sessions, and export or share one safely.

Checked on CLI 0.3.3

A newer version is out (CLI 0.5.2): some details may differ.

  • In the interactive screen: /resume opens a picker.
  • From the shell: talos --resume last, or talos --resume <id>; add -p "…" to continue without the screen.
  • When you leave the screen, it prints the transcript — or, with ui.exitOutput set to resume, the command that brings you back.

A fork starts a new session from a copy of an existing one: the original stays as it was.

  • In the interactive screen: /fork.
  • From the shell: talos --fork <id>, or talos session fork <id>, which prints the new id.
Terminal window
talos session list # name, project, model, tags and pin
talos session search <text> # by id, name, project or tag
talos session rename <id> "release notes"
talos session tag <id> docs
talos session pin <id>

/rename names the open conversation from inside the screen.

Terminal window
talos session export <id> --out notes.md --format md # for your own records: json, jsonl or md
talos session share <id> --out shared.json # a redacted copy, safe to share
talos session import shared.json # a read-only archive: it never runs anything by itself

share removes the keys and secrets found in your environment. /export saves the open conversation, in Markdown by default. import also reads sessions exported by TALOS Desktop.
