Desktop guides
One task per page — from attaching a file to scheduling an automation — checked against TALOS Desktop 0.1.19.
Checked on Desktop 0.1.19
A newer version is out (Desktop 0.1.25): some details may differ.
Each guide does one thing, in the order you would do it, and says what to do when it goes wrong. To understand how the parts fit together first, start with How TALOS Desktop works.
- Attach files and images Add a project file, any file, an image or your last screenshot to a message, and see what it costs before you send.
- Dictate and listen Speak a message into the composer, or have an answer read aloud — and what each one sends where.
- Improve a prompt Have what you wrote rewritten into a clearer brief before you send it, at the depth you choose.
- Keep a long conversation in bounds Measure the context of a chat, compact it automatically or by hand, protect the facts that must not be lost, and restore an earlier summary.
- Make visuals, images and documents Ask for an interactive visual in the chat, an image saved to the project, or a real document file — and what lasts after a restart.
- Run a deep research Turn one question into a report with claims, steps, verdicts and sources, and follow, pause, resume or check it again.
- Search the web and read pages Choose where the agent searches, check it, and follow every page it read — or open one yourself.
- Use the terminal The real terminals of a session — which ones the agent opened, which ones you did, and the keys that move between them.
- Review what a session changed See every file a session touched, line by line, with the turn that wrote it and its signed receipt.
- Connect a provider Give TALOS Desktop access to a model over the network, test it, and choose the model of a session.
- Run a model on your computer Load a model into TALOS Desktop's own engine, or use Ollama or LM Studio, and read what it runs on.
- Forge a tool Build a new tool for the agent from capabilities TALOS already has, without code, and turn it on when you are ready.
- Schedule an automation Have a task run again by itself every so many minutes, with a daily cap, and read when it ran and runs next.
- Add skills, MCP servers, plugins and hooks Extend TALOS Desktop from your project, read what each extension declares, and trust it only after.
- Work with the Library, notes, tasks and memory Open, download, rename and delete the files of the work, and keep notes, tasks and memories by hand or through the agent.
- Check your setup with Doctor Read the report of what is ready and what is not on this computer, worst first, and what each check does not prove.
- Keyboard shortcuts The seven shortcuts of TALOS Desktop, where each one works, and the keys of the terminal's tabs.
- Find a setting The nine sections of TALOS Desktop's settings, the search across them, and moving your preferences to another computer.
